HUMERA distributed hot meals to displaced people in Gaza, to meet part of their food needs and ease the burdens of displacement.
Displacement places families under daily challenges that go beyond losing shelter, including the difficulty of securing and preparing food. In Gaza, where basic needs are crowded together, a hot meal becomes an urgent need for families that lack cooking facilities or are unable to provide the ingredients for their food, especially with the burdens they bear in seeking safety and caring for children and the elderly.
In response to this need, HUMERA implemented a project to distribute hot meals to displaced people in Gaza, to provide ready-to-eat food and support families in facing the conditions of displacement. The project came as part of the foundation’s efforts to meet urgent food needs and provide direct support that touches the details of the affected people’s daily lives.
Through the project, HUMERA provided hot meals to the displaced beneficiaries, helping meet part of their food needs during the distribution period. Providing food ready to eat made it possible to consume it without the need to secure fuel, water, or the cooking tools required to prepare it, which gave this intervention special importance for families living away from their homes and lacking their basic equipment.
The value of this support also extended to easing part of the responsibility of securing a meal for the family, at a time when people are occupied with managing multiple needs within limited means. In displacement conditions, a hot meal is not just food; it is support on a hard day, and a gesture of care that preserves human dignity and expresses solidarity with people in their ordeal.
The project was completed to constitute a contribution to responding to the food needs of the displaced in Gaza, and it embodies HUMERA’s approach to providing relief based on people’s actual needs. Through this intervention, the foundation placed food provision and family support at the heart of its response, recognizing the importance of urgent support in alleviating the suffering of displacement.
