Distribution of school bags

HUMERA distributed school bags to support the learning of Gaza’s children and ease the burden on their families.

Amid the difficult conditions experienced by the children of Gaza, continuing education remains a basic need tied to their hope for the future. And with the many burdens faced by families, providing a school bag for their children may become beyond their means, despite the importance this bag holds in a child’s day and in their feeling of readiness to learn.

In response to this need, HUMERA implemented the school bag distribution project in Gaza, to support children in their educational journey and ease some of the burden on their families. The project came from the Foundation’s belief that supporting education also begins with providing simple necessities that help a child continue learning and preserve their right to care and attention.

Through the project, HUMERA provided school bags to the beneficiary children, to accompany them in their educational activities and help them carry and keep their tools. This intervention represented practical support for families, by providing one of the necessities their children need, at a time when basic needs are crowding in and meeting them is becoming more difficult.

The project’s aim was not limited to providing the bag as a material need; it also included caring for the child and encouraging them to hold on to learning, and strengthening their sense that their dreams deserve support. A school bag in a child’s life carries a meaning that goes beyond its daily use, and is tied to what they look forward to in terms of knowledge, friendships, and new opportunities.

The project was completed as a contribution to supporting the children of Gaza and their families, within HUMERA’s vision that places people and their needs at the heart of humanitarian work. Supporting children today, and providing what helps them learn, is a step toward enabling them to build a better future.
