HUMERA provided cash assistance to displaced people in Gaza, to ease their living burdens and enable them to meet their urgent needs.

Displaced families face multiple living burdens, starting with securing food and shelter and ending with children’s needs and daily life requirements. With the loss of income sources and the difficulty of managing expenses, the ability to choose what the family needs and provide it themselves becomes an important part of restoring a sense of independence and dignity in displacement conditions.

In response to these needs, HUMERA implemented a cash assistance distribution project for displaced people in Gaza, within its field of work in relief and economic empowerment. The project provided direct financial support to beneficiary families, aiming to alleviate living pressures and support them in covering part of their basic expenses, according to their needs and priorities.

Cash assistance enabled families to direct support toward what they saw as most urgent; one family’s priority may be securing food, while another’s may be buying children’s necessities or covering essential expenses. The importance of this intervention lies in respecting the differing needs of beneficiaries and giving them a direct role in determining how to benefit from the assistance, in a way that suits their circumstances.

The project combined an urgent relief response with support for the family’s ability to manage its financial affairs and make its own decisions. Cash assistance does not replace a sustainable source of income, but it provides temporary support that helps meet urgent expenses and eases part of the burden families bear in managing their livelihoods.

The project was completed to constitute a contribution to supporting displaced people in Gaza, and it reflects HUMERA’s keenness to provide support that preserves human dignity and gives space for choice. By delivering assistance in cash form, the foundation placed the family’s needs and decisions at the heart of the intervention, affirming that effective relief responds to people’s circumstances and respects their ability to determine their priorities.
